Santa spotted ...

So we went awy for a little break from the daily routine.  We went to a place we like to visit near Pittsburgh.  We were in the local diner getting some breakfast and who do we see grabbing a bite in between his busy seasonal rush?

sneaking a cuppa joe ;o)

We love checking in to this diner in Sommerset- it has a cool, happy, retro feel to it.  The people are super friendly and the food & coffee are terrific!

when we were finished we went cruising into a town on the east side of Pittsburgh called Braddock...look the place up if you get a chance.  It has a fascinating story of how it came to look as it does today.  There are many homes just left abandoned, businesses empty & boarded up yet still many who live there and a cool art & creative process starting to bring renewal to the town.  Here are just a couple of shots I could get, my camera is really not cooperating with me lately!

eerie, but cool at the same time

this is actually looking through where there should be a roof in this garage...

alot  of overgrowth, I can't wait to go back & see it in the summer...

can you believe this house seemed left & forgotton, there were so many like this...makes you wonder what they looked like in their prime!

Now here is the Carnegie library- you should really look this up- this was one of the first and it had a pool in the basement, bowling alley, basketball court- & we got a tour inside by the lovely librarian we met Ruthie- she showed us the 'music hall' was like an opera house- I will add a shot or two below...

What a fantasic opportunity to see a town repurposed- so excited to see where they go from here!

life

As I was thinking about life today and how fragile it can be, I came across this quote I thought I would share. It is something to ponder and mull around your head & heart a bit to let the thought settle in and come to life.  I hope you day ahead is open to the many possibilities you can run right into and enjoy with gusto!

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.

Life is beauty, admire it.

Life is bliss, taste it.

Life is a dream, realize it.

Life is a challenge, meet it.

Life is a duty, complete it.

Life is a game, play it.

Life is a promise, fulfill it.

Life is sorrow, overcome it.

Life is a song, sing it.

Life is a struggle, accept it.

Life is a tragedy, confront it.

Life is an adventure, dare it.

Life is luck, make it.

Life is too precious, do not destroy it.

Life is life, fight for it.

Mother Teresa

Saturday was a great success, a success in the sense that I met so many people and was able to encourage so many to open their eyes to repurposing and living more simply!  I was able to enjoy seeing smiling faces and festive hearts as shoppers were thinking of the holiday season and finding gifts for others.  It was just a terrific day to spend with my wonderful husband as well...I think of all of this as a huge success!  Money was nice as well, but really, really, money was the least of the reward of the day!  I am actually able to do something I thoroughly enjoy- this is the true reward!

I think the biggest sellers saturday were bubble bath and the marbles & bath salts for soaking.  I will put some pics up as I can, if you wish to order some yourself please drop me a comment or send me and email or give me a call :o)

"What lies behind us, and what lies

before us are small matters

compared to what lies within us."
